The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the lives of babies through the prevention of birth defects, infant mortality and prematurely. The March of Dimes accomplishes its goal through education, research and advocacy.
The WorkOver the past 60 years our life saving research and innovative prevention programs have saved millions of babies from death or disability. From the eradication of polio to the discovery of the neonatal intensive care unit, the March of Dimes is the leader in saving the lives of babies.
Each year the March of Dimes invests nearly 1.5 million dollars in local communities through grants. These grants, ranging from $500 to $20,000 are awarded to local organizations that strive to improve maternal and child health in the community. Each dollar that goes into a community is raised through the hard work and dedication of March of Dimes volunteers. The March of Dimes does not use any public funds for any of its activities. All efforts are supported and funded by the generosity of the community.
